Yes, yes, oh yes! I struggle big time with my children's homework. By the time they get home, after a full-packed day, sports and after school clubs, they are exhausted and hungry. Getting them to have a shower, a snack and settle down is a huge challenge. By the time they do, I no longer have the energy to help them with the actual homework. My elder two are boys - with non-existent attention spans. Thankfully the elder one now works independently, but the younger one is constantly asking "am I done?" - the homework equivalent of "are we there yet?".
I think homework should be to give the children more practice in things they have learnt. But I've noticed more and more they get things that they did not complete at school, including topics which they should really have been learning more thoroughly during the day. When this happens it feels like teachers are passing the work on to the parents.
