When I was at school, all that teachers seemed to bother about was sports. If you were good at sports, everything was fine, but if you weren't there didn't seem to be many other ways to gain recognition.
I was musical, but never really got the chance to display this enough in school.
I believe that arts subjects, such as music, art and drama, have a key place in schools - because it can teach important skills, and often provides a certain level of light relief during a day of stressful lessons sitting at a desk. I used to really look forward to my music classes in school, they were a key point in the day to aim for as far as I was concerned.
What about your schools? Do you find that they focus enough on arts subjects, or are they like many other schools in the country that just seem to have let that type of subject fall aside in preference to focussing on sporting achievements and "academic" subjects?
