At my son's school, if a child is badly behaved, they are removed from the classroom until the next break time - which they then miss. I can understand that sometimes behaviour might disrupt the class, however it worries me that children could be missing up to 2 hours of schooling each time they are sent out of the classroom. The children are asked to stand outside and aren't given any more work to do, so the "punishment" just seems like a waste of time to me.
But what is the alternative? I feel that sending a child out of the classroom should be a last resort, and that teachers should really have other ways to deal with the kids in their class. Are there other methods that you would recommend when it comes to dealing with badly behaved children?
I just think there must be another way than making them miss so much of their school time on a daily basis!
