If you wanted your child to have lessons outside of school to help with homework, or things from class that they have found tricky so far, how would you go about choosing the ideal tutor for the job?
Personally, I have been considering asking somebody who would like to be a teacher, but is studying for GCSEs at the moment. I think that they would be capable of teaching a 7yo, though of course their lessons would be supervised by me until I was comfortable with the topics being covered.
Other friends of mine have said that they would expect a fully qualified teacher for lessons, but this is a lot more expensive, and I'm not entirely sure if it is necessary.
If you have hired a tutor for your child in the past, what have your considerations been? Have you gone for qualified teachers, or students, or family friends? I would like my child to get a little extra help, of course, but I need to make sure that the help is aimed at the right level, and that it will be useful!
